The system represents a rotational clutch with a fluid coupling between multiple disks. Aspiration and hydrodynamic torques are calculated from Newtonian fluid mechanics based on the work of Patir and Cheng along with the associated tribological and fluid data. An idealized thermal model is also employed to account for the change in fluid viscosity during operation. The block can be configured to include shaft rotational dynamics or only a coupling force based on relative shaft speeds and applied pressure
