The base workspace variable is used in the referenced model when the top model is in Accelerator simulation mode. This variable is either normal data, or has 'Auto' storage class. This is not supported for HDL code generation. Change the variable to be a Simulink.parameter with a storage class of anything other than 'Auto'.
